Autumn has properly arrived, and this weekend is a good one for eating and drinking your way around the island. There's street food under Paphos castle and a Commandaria festival in the hills above Limassol. If you'd rather stay in town, there's an orchestra night, an open chess tournament and a full club line-up. Here are our picks for Friday 16 to Sunday 18 October 2026. All times are local Cyprus time.

Our top picks this weekend

1. Seaside Street Food Festival, Paphos (Fri–Sun, free)

The autumn edition of the Seaside Street Food Festival closes the season at Medieval Castle Square by Paphos harbour. It runs Friday to Sunday, 12:00–22:00 each day, and entry is free. The organisers describe it as family-friendly, with food for all ages. There's parking in the surrounding area, but on a sunny weekend afternoon we'd walk along the seafront rather than circle for a space.

2. Commandaria & Tradition Festival, Kalo Chorio (Sat–Sun, free)

Kalo Chorio is one of the villages that produce Commandaria, Cyprus's famous sweet dessert wine. This weekend it celebrates the wine on the central square (68 Commandarias Avenue), from Saturday 17 October at 14:30 until Sunday 18 October at 22:00. You can help make palouze (grape must pudding), taste traditional products for free, and try Commandaria and zivania. The festival also features products made from the grape, like siousioukko, plus pies, halloumi-making and more. It's about 26 km from Limassol, roughly a 35–45 minute drive from the town centre depending on traffic.

3. Cyprus Symphony Orchestra: "Starlight 1", Limassol (Fri)

On Friday 16 October at 20:30, the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra performs at the Pattihio Municipal Theatre in Limassol with pianist and composer George-Emmanuel Lazaridis, in a programme billed as "From Saint-Saëns to Carmen!". Tickets are €12–€25, according to the Visit Cyprus events calendar.

4. Open Sports Festival Chess Tournament, Limassol (Sat)

The Open Sports Festival is a corporate sports festival that runs in Limassol each year. This year chess has been added, with a tournament at City of Dreams Mediterranean on Saturday 17 October from 09:00. It's open to all levels, from complete beginners to experienced players. Team entry is by registration at opensports.com.cy, and watching is free for spectators, families and children. The festival's main day, with 18 sports, follows on 24 October at Heritage Private School.

5. Fun Day at Zoopigi (Sun, free)

The Zoopigi Association of Expatriates and Friends hosts a fun day at the Municipal Park in Zoopigi (Limassol district) on Sunday 18 October from 11:00. There are activities for children and adults, food, shopping and a charitable cause. Entry is free.
